Ballet is the Foundation of Dance Training.
Ballet trains the body carefully, developing
strength, control & coordination.
Classes in ballet are available for all ages and beneficial to everyone. At Dance United School of Dance we have Ballet Classes for Students aged 3 and up. Ballet classes develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance by practising ballet. All dance styles refer to ballet technique and terminology.
Ballet practice improves flexibility and muscle strength and tone; it has the advantage of working the entire body. In particular, it strengthens abdominal and and improves posture. It can also be an outlet, helping to relieve stress and anxiety.
TYPES OF BALLET CLASSES
At Dance United we offer the internationally-recognised RAD syllabus which includes classes for examinations and assessments designed to encourage, motivate and reward students of all ages and abilities, outlining a progressive structure for learning and achievement.
Students may start with the Gotta Dance program using Dance to Your Own Tune curriculum (for students from 2½ to 5 years), move up through the first Graded levels (Pre-Primary in Dance and Primary in Dance), and then into eight further Graded levels or six Vocational Graded levels. Students may move from the Graded pathway to the Vocational Graded pathway at an appropriate moment, they may study both pathways simultaneously.
Examinations are administered by the RAD Examinations Board. In Australia RAD Vocational Graded qualifications are endorsed by State awarding bodies in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania for credits towards the Certificate of Education. RAD Graded qualifications are recognised in Tasmania for credits toward the Certificate of Education.
Ballet (Open Classes)
At Dance United we also offer open ballet classes which work on technique, posture and artistry. Within these classes the students will be taught carefully choreographed routines which they will then perform in our end of year concerts. Examples of ballets: Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty just to name a few
Pointe work is the epitome of all young ballerinas. This strenuous discipline is introduced in higher ballet level. Only those students who are found to be qualified by their teacher may participate.
Dance United’s technique classes includes ballet pilates, stretch and strengthen exercises, turn and balance training and competition style tricks. If you’re looking for that extra edge then this is the class for you.
Competition classes are for those dedicated students who wish to compete in competitions throughout the year. You must also attend weekly examination, acro and technique classes to be eligible to join our competition team. Styles we cover are ballet, jazz, contemporary and lyrical.
