Preparing dancers for a wide range of movement. Learning dynamics, self awareness and the use of tension and control. Contemporary combines different forms of dance training from ballet, jazz, and acro into a beautiful and expresive art form.
Contemporary dance has quickly risen as one for the strongest dance forms around thanks to it’s freedom that allows dancers to express themselves. Contemporary dance draws on both classical ballet for it’s strong and controlled leg work and and modern dance for it’s improvisation. Through these characteristics contemporary dance has the ability to draw you into a story from start to end, giving dancers the chance to improvise but to also act out the story within the dance. Unlike ballet, contemporary is less structured giving dancers the opportunity to make full use of the floor whilst still in control of their body to freely express their feelings.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. We offer contemporary classes which includes stretch, strengthen, body alignment, floor work and much more.
Contemporary classes are taught by Dance United Principal Miss Nicole and run for 60 minutes each session.
Ballet class is compulsory if attending jazz, contemporary, pointe and competition classes from 7 yrs and over.
